It should be added that the extant devotees of WordPerfect for Mac, under the tutelage of John Rethorst, long ago used SheepShaver on newer Macs (OS X) to run the wonderful word processor. I don't have the address at hand but a search of the Yahoo groups for WordPerfect for Mac will turn up the site where you can download \"kits\" containing all you need to install SheepShaver and to run WordPerfect (which is included). The forum contains a tremendous amount of advice and counsel.
I've looked for Intel on Mac, and all I find is a Torrent download, which I can't seem to acquire. Besides, I'm always a bit leary of torrents due to possible contamination. Is there another source Thanks.
You are correct that Snow Leopard eliminates AppleTalk, so file sharing with a Mac OS 9 machine is impossible. SheepShaver should work, according to this documentation: _for_sheepshaverBut other utilities are required, and it doesn't look easy!
I found your update the only one that worked! I did, however, update to the newer 64 bit version of sheepshave.r I just put it in replacing the sheepshaver inside the original chubby bunny. YOu even had MORE! What is exactly what I am looking for. Even cooler is 12801024 on my retina 5k monitor. Its quite readable! Cut and paste works in Mojave too!
Finally, there are legal issues surrounding some emulation. Ownership of old software varies wildly; rights for individual titles may be fiercely guarded, disputed, entirely unknown, or even long ago released into the public domain. Also, your right to download and use digital copies varies from country to country. Even if you own the original hardware and software, you may find yourself technically on the wrong side of infringement legislation unless you extract the ROMs yourself.
Sheepshaver can run on Big Sur. However, even though it emulates a Mac, Sheepshaver is a Linux tool and has extremely poor Mac support. You can't just download Sheepshaver. You have to go to the support forums and find the thread with links to the working macOS version. Just so you know, the date on that thread is \"Thu Nov 17, 2011 4:17 pm\". I can't tell you any more. I don't remember all of what I had to do in order to get it working.
So now that i have my old Mac files on Windows, what do i do with them Some are usable by Windows software, but not all of them. A comment by username below mentioned Basilisk, an open source classic Mac (68xxx) emulator for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. The current version is Basilisk II. But what i needed was SheepShaver, a PowerPC-based variant of Basilisk. It takes a lot of fiddling but i now have Mac OS 9.0.4 running on my Windows 7 desktop, with a 1 GB HDD, access to my Windows filesystem, internet access, etc. It's very cool, and i recommend it to anyone with a need or curiosity. To do this legally, you need to get a copy of your Mac's ROM, a disk image of your Mac OS install disk or bootable hard drive, and that's about it. I recommend looking at emaculation.com for downloads and help. The forums there are active and they are quick to help out. Below is a screen shot of my Win 7 64-bit desktop running SheepShaver with Mac OS 9.0.4 PowerPC. Cassilla is a Mozilla variant for classic Macs (which is giving me a \"no Javascript\" error at SuperUser.com for some reason). If you squint, you can see a \"Computer\" folder, which is essentially the drives available in \"My Computer\".
Although it certainly appears that the user behind Chubby Bunny is well meaning, it nevertheless always is prudent to be careful when downloading any \"unofficial\" files. Be sure to backup your computer before \"fiddling\" with any official or unofficial SheepShaver software (or before adding any new software to your Mac, for that matter).
Perhaps you're more interested in a drag & drop solution A guy called \"gwalkabout\" created created an easy install of SheepShaver called COI (Classic On Intel), but version 4.0.1 (aka chubby-bunny) was the last one. I upgraded that version with the latest version of SheepShaver and some useful Classic apps, and called it version 4.0.1+. You can download my version at COIV4.0.1+.zip --presuming you trust me. If not, your loss. :) 1e1e36bf2d
